Artist’s Statement:

“I took up painting during lockdown in Lyon, France where my husband was working with WHO. I started my new hobby using kids’ paints from the local supermarché, painting on cardboard from Amazon deliveries. Once lockdown was over, I progressed to grown up acrylics and canvas!
I like to create compositions in bright bold colours seeking inspiration from the local markets in France; nature; and now back in the UK, the Dorset countryside and seascapes.
I like to create texture and depth using gesso, with which I sketch out the first designs, then I add colour, the more luminous and bold the better, and gold leaf to create extra zing. When travelling I paint on my iPad using the graphics package Procreate.
Last year’s PAWs was the first time I’ve ever exhibited and I was humbled and surprised by the encouraging reaction from other artists and visitors to Rollington. Thank you!”
