Artist’s Statement:

The episodes of extreme weather we have been experiencing this autumn and winter has led me to work on a series of paintings under the title ‘Wild Dorset’. I have been going for walks in the local area and making sketches in situ. I have returned to my studio to create paintings using gouache and acrylic in which I try to capture the atmosphere I experienced outside. I have referenced the sketches of Constable and Turner to help me to depict the changing conditions. I have also purposely distressed the frames of each painting in order to add further visual interest. The work is on a smaller scale than my previous PAW submissions, as a direct result of losing the use of my studio for several months!
