Artist’s Statement:

I’m a botanical artist working exclusively with watercolour. With careful, detailed observation, I like to explore the seasonal changes of plants. I describe the fragility, resilience & beauty of decaying botanical forms, allowing the viewer to appreciate plants at a different time in their maturation. Each painting begins with a drawing enabling me to study the structure & rhythms of the subject. The paintings are created using many layers of transparent watercolours applied using several different techniques. Through gradual layering & fine brushwork, I can then describe the subtle details & colour shifts which then create the particular image I am after.
