Community Art
In 2024 we completed the creation of a fabulous new mosaic panel for Swanage seafront – to replace the older dinosaur mural and complete the triptych. The theme for this new mosaic was the protection of wildlife and habitats in the Purbeck area – and we are pleased to have been able to provide a visually stimulating piece of art for the community and visitors to enjoy! As well as raising awareness of the unique biodiversity of this area.
The design team, and around 90 children from local primary and secondary schools, worked on the design in partnership with Durlston Country Park, RSPB Arne and Butterfly Conservation.
We would like to thank Dorset Council for awarding us a grant, and for support from Swanage Town Council.

PYA 2024
In 2024 we had a record number of 18 schools participating. The workshops were coordinated by local artist and teacher Sophie Jenkins, and were delivered by an amazing team of 6 local artists with a wealth of experience of working with young people. This year students were encouraged to develop art works on the theme of ‘Coastal Life’ – through a range of workshops includes, glass art, puppet making, painting banners, clay making, graffiti street art and 3D art using recycled materials.

Competitions
Purbeck Young Artist Competition: work based on this year’s theme was exhibited at Rollington Barn (in the Byre) and there was a prize giving on the Friday evening before the Festival began.

Rollington Installations
The Spirit of Rollington in Stitches
In 2024, Charlotte Fereday aimed to capture some of the spirit of Rollington in one large scale textile piece. She has been a Rollington exhibitor for the last few years and felt that there’s something magical about the way it springs up out of nowhere and becomes such a vibrant place for two weeks, and then gets packed away for another year.
Charlotte invited everyone who passed through to sit with her for one minute to be sketched, with all the sketches being incorporated into a massive stitched wall hanging.
Charlotte produced a book of the project which was avaliable to purchase at PAW 2025. The completed wall hanging was also displayed.
