Artist’s Statement:

“Moira works largely from life to capture the essence of the warmth and vitality and movement in human and animal forms. A large part of her work portrays the softness of the female form, however her work also includes animals and she has completed several male sculptures using stronger muscle tone and texture. She recieved an award for her sculpture “”Male Torso”” at the Society of Women Artists exhibition in 2010 and her life-size “”Self-Contained Man”” was part of the Royal West of England Academy open exhibition in 2014.

Moira also loves the way in which art can communicate. In 2017 she was commissioned to create a sculpture of a mother and her newly born baby designed to bring the scientific results of the WOMAN trial to life. Helping to save women’s lives after childbirth.

In 2020 Moira was commissioned to create a life size bronze, for her home town of Swanage, to celebrate the life of Trevor Chadwick who rescued 669 children from Prague in 1939. It focuses on the kindness and generosity of the man and his ability to put children at their ease as well as celebrating his courage.”
