Artist’s Statement:

“As a multi-disciplinary artist, working primarily with UV printing and oil painting, Roisin Hegarty’s practice investigates our organic relationship to the natural world, finding likeness within ourselves and the environment around us.

Roisin finds most of her inspiration in her surroundings, having been brought up in the Dorset countryside. She focuses on the details of organic forms, such as flowers and foliage, whilst also being interested in the human form. Her palette of soft, fleshy hues resonates with both the natural and figurative world.

The process of UV printing, one of the oldest camera-less photographic printing processes, creates a tangible connection between herself, the artwork, and the outdoors. The significance the sun has on the outcome of the work highlights the gravity of human and nature’s relationship. The art becomes a depiction of Roisin’s own memory of time and place whilst also holding onto shadows of the work’s own creation.”
