Artist’s Statement:

Studio South’s Art Café began with a shared love of Van Gogh and the post‑impressionists between owner Sophie Walker and Paul Walker, her father. The original paintings were created to decorate the café, but growing interest soon led visitors to ask if they were for sale. Each piece is inspired by the artist’s personal research trips to Arles, St‑Rémy, and Auvers‑sur‑Oise, exploring Van Gogh’s techniques through modern materials. These works aren’t replicas, but contemporary interpretations that capture the construction and spirit of the originals—offered at an accessible price for those who prefer a real painting over a print. And even if you’re just browsing, Studio South promises excellent coffee and a warm welcome.
