Mission Statement
The PAW Festival aims to encourage appreciation of the arts across the Purbeck District Council area by staging a wide range of performances and art exhibitions. It encourages and promotes artists who live or work in Purbeck while attracting other artists and the general public from further afield. The Festival embraces a wide spectrum of art including painting, sculpture, music, film, poetry, drama and lectures from performers who are often at the top of their profession, many with international reputations. We want to encourage younger people, be adventurous and stimulate as well as inform as wide an audience as possible. The Festival is a charity run by volunteers and depends on the support and sense of ownership from across the Purbeck community.

PYA 2011
Every year in the weeks before the Festival starts we have a series of workshops and art competitions which are open to schools and young people throughout Purbeck. This year storyteller Jamie Crawford is holding workshops in schools followed by classes with professional artists. Our art competition, with local artist Brian Graham as senior judge, culminates in a prize giving evening at Swanage Middle School. The winning entries are on show throughout the Festival fortnight on the walls of our main Art Exhibition venue at Rollington Barn and at Wareham.
