PAW 2014

2014 was the first year that a full Concerts & Other Events Programme was published. To go along with this, Tony Viney was asked to write a history of PAW to be published on the website; Purbeck Art Weeks – How did it all happen?

Purbeck/Autumn Chamber Music Festival

This was created to spread the PAW brand ‘out of festival’, following the three sucessful Autumn concerts that Natalie Clein had put on in 2012. In 2016 it evolved into the Purbeck International Chamber Music Festival (PICMF)

We have recordings of the Rehersals in the Tank Museum and a Masterclass with Natalie Clein.

Durlston Learning Centre, Durlston Park, Swanage – tickets £10

Sunday 31st August –  12 midday
St James’s Church, Kingston – tickets £15
Coffee served from 11.30 in aid of church funds

Four concert tickets: £46. Ticket price for students: £2 at all concerts

PYA 2014

Purbeck Young Artists (PYA) is the young people’s section of the Festival. Our aim is to nurture and celebrate the creativity of all our young artists. Each Year the PYA team encourage schools to explore a shared theme in lots of inspiring ways.  The generosity of our sponsors  allows us to pay professional local artists to go into schools and run creative workshops.

PAWF John Flower Bursary

Hazel Firth: An award towards the costs of the JV2 Contemporary Dance Course.

Karl Lattimer: An award for the costs of purchasing a monitor speaker and a microphone.

Nikki Lardner: An award for the costs of the Joining Fee and one year’s Annual Membership of Poole Printmakers together with the Short Course in Silkscreen Printing at Arts University Bournemouth.

Competitions

Purbeck Young Artist Competition: work based on this year’s theme was exhibited at Rollington Barn (primarily in the Cafe) and there was a prize giving on the Thursday evening before the Festival began.

Venetian Art Competition: Guess the artist who created the image and win event tickets.

Visual Artists Forum

The forum was set up this year by Judy Tate, Carlotta Barrow and Moira Purver. The forum works as a link between the artists and the trustees. There is also a Facebook group to aid discussion and spread information.
