PYA 2021

The 2021 workshops were greatly appreciated by schools as they emerged from a difficult year in 2020 dominated by Covid.  Four experienced artist teachers were able to deliver 10 workshops – thanks again to our generous sponsors. They included a wide spectrum of methods and media – using natural materials, wire, withies, photography, cardboard and collage and more to explore the theme of ‘Renewal’.  The work produced was varied, imaginative and colourful. The children had a lot of fun as well as learning new skills, using unusual tools for painting and responding individually to a given task.

PAWF John Flower Bursary

Bursary Award Recipients:

Lois Fletcher: a contribution towards the fees for the National Youth Theatre summer intake course.

‘Absolutely delighted to be in receipt of the John Flower bursary. This sum of money will be of great assistance’.

Rollington Installations

The Renewal Tree began as an interactive installation, created by Sue Lansbury, which evolved over the course of the 2021 PAW Festival. Inspired by the work and ideas of PAW artist Jay Goulding, who died in 2020, this installation invited visitors to consider the positive, creative difference each one of us can make. In Jay’s own words ‘ We all have new histories to forge’.

Competitions

Purbeck Young Artist Competition: work based on this year’s theme was exhibited at Rollington Barn (in the Byre) and there was a prize giving on the Friday evening before the Festival began.

Theme Competition: Exhibiting artists could submit artwork based on the current year’s theme (Changing Seasons) to be selected to be used on the poster or for the cover of the Brochure or the Programme. (The winners for 2020 were carried over for this year).
